Our Story
The Cake Room was conceived by brothers Richard and Philip Skelton. Their long family tradition as independent bakers, combined with a passion for beautiful cake design, led them to open The Cake Room at 4 The Square in Hessle.
For decades, the people of Hessle and East Yorkshire have trusted us with their most important celebrations — weddings, christenings, birthdays, and everything in between. That trust is built on one thing above all: never compromising on quality, however small the order or however busy the week.

The Same Corner, A New Name
Today, that same family tradition continues as The Cake Room by Skeltons — still independent, still hand-making everything on the premises, and still built on the same finest-quality standard the Skelton name has always stood for. The vans and the carnival floats may be history now, but what they stood for is exactly what we hold ourselves to every single day.
